Pink Candles Nanking Cherry

Overview & Description

Pink Candles Nanking Cherry (Prunus tomentosa Pink Candles) is an upright, spreading deciduous shrub prized for its spectacular spring display of bright pink blossoms that completely cover the stems before the foliage emerges. The fuzzy, deeply veined, green foliage appears shortly after blooming, creating a lush summer canopy. Small, sweet, edible red cherries ripen in late summer, excellent for jellies and preserves. This self-pollinating variety offers both ornamental beauty and practical fruit production.

Growth & Size

Additional Notes

It blooms in early spring, with fruit ripening in late summer. Hardy to Zone 2, it is self-pollinating, requiring no additional plants for fruit production. It prefers moist, well-drained soil. An outstanding choice for hedges, screens, borders, edible landscapes, and home orchards where bright pink spring blossoms, sweet red cherries, and self-pollinating convenience are desired.
