Use and care

Use a suitably rated ceramic E27 holder, a protective cage where the animal could reach the lamp, and a suitable thermostat. Check temperatures independently at the basking surface and cooler end, and provide a safe temperature gradient. Choose wattage and distance for the species and enclosure. A separate species-appropriate UVB system is required. Use a dimming thermostat. Place an appropriate natural basking surface underneath and measure its temperature with an infrared thermometer. Supply night heat only if the species and room temperature require it.
