Carmine Jewel Cherry

Overview & Description

The Carmine Jewel Cherry (Prunus Carmine Jewel) is a cold-hardy marvel, perfect for northern gardeners seeking homegrown sweetness. This self-pollinating tree bursts into clouds of white spring blossoms, followed by deep black cherries with rich purple flesh and tiny pits. The moderately sweet fruit is ideal for fresh eating, pies, and preserves. Glossy green foliage adds ornamental appeal throughout the growing season.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a compact, upright, and bushy growth habit. It forms a small, manageable tree or large shrub, typically reaching a mature size of about 2 to 2.5 meters (6.5 to 8 feet) in both height and spread.

Additional Notes

It blooms profusely in mid-spring, with fruit ripening in mid-summer. Prairie-tough and thriving in Zone 3, it shrugs off harsh winters with minimal care. Disease-resistant and low-maintenance, it offers an early cherry harvest. An outstanding choice for small yards, patio trees, edible landscapes, or as a stunning ornamental accent delivering both beauty and reliable, flavorful fruit in challenging northern climates.
