Tamarind (Tamarindus indica)

Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) is a hardy, long-lived tropical fruit tree producing curved brown pods filled with a sweet and sour tasting pulp, popular in cooking, sauces and drinks. With attractive, fine fern-like foliage and a spreading canopy, it makes an excellent shade tree. Thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, becoming drought-tolerant once established.
