A very attractive slow growing evergreen shrub, only reaching around 2 ft (0.6 m) in 10 years. (A 25 year-old plant is 5 ft tall). Very compact, dense, rounded, irregular horizontal branching. Leaves alternate, simple, small, rounded, very short internodes. Idealfor bonsai. Sun to light shade.
Gardeners are frequently surprised to learn this is an evergreen in the holly family – no prickles, no berries, just a fascinating profile with textural interest.
