CYNARA ‘GROS VERT DE LON’

Cynara ‘Gros Vert de Laon’ is a premium French heritage variety of globe artichoke, celebrated for its exceptional flavour and large, fleshy buds. Producing impressive, rounded green heads in summer, this perennial favourite thrives in UK gardens with the right care.

With its striking silvery foliage, this variety not only offers a delicious and tender harvest but also adds ornamental value to borders and vegetable gardens. If left unharvested, its large purple thistle-like flowers bloom from July to October, attracting pollinators and making a stunning visual display.

Growing conditions:

• Height: Up to 1m
• Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil
• Sunlight: Full sun
• Harvesting: Pick buds before they open for the best texture and taste
• Maintenance: Divide established plants every few years for continued productivity

Whether you’re an experienced grower or a beginner, Cynara ‘Gros Vert de Laon’ is a rewarding and resilient choice for home cultivation. Enjoy fresh, homegrown artichokes in gourmet dishes or let the vibrant blooms add beauty to your garden.
