Columnar Blue Spruce

Overview & Description

The Columnar Blue Spruce (Picea pungens Fastigiata) makes a striking architectural statement by combining dramatic colour with space-saving form. Its naturally narrow, upright silhouette features dense bluish-green to silvery-blue needles that maintain vibrant hue year-round. This slow-growing evergreen creates visual interest without overwhelming small landscapes, requiring minimal pruning to maintain its elegant columnar shape.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a narrow, upright, columnar growth habit ideally suited for tight spaces where traditional spruces wont fit. It forms a slender, architectural tree, typically reaching a mature size of about 12 to 15 feet in height with a spread of only 3 to 4 feet.

Additional Notes

Evergreen with silvery-blue needles year-round. Exceptionally cold-hardy, drought-tolerant once established, and deer-resistant. Its space-saving design and eye-catching colour make it outstanding for framing entryways or driveways, creating living screens in narrow spaces, or adding vertical interest to rock gardens and foundation plantings where dramatic form and reliable year-round colour are desired with minimal maintenance.
