Blue-grey evergreen leaves contrast with pale pink bells in spring. This dwarf bog rosemary needs acidic soil and dependable moisture; it is not culinary rosemary.
Despite the common name, bog rosemary is not related to culinary rosemary and must not be used as a herb. Its low habit and cool-toned foliage make it useful at the edge of an acidic border or in a carefully maintained ericaceous container. Position it where the spring bells can be seen above the narrow leaves, and combine it with other plants that need acidic, moisture-retentive conditions.
This is a plant for gardeners who can provide dependable moisture. Do not put it in a hot, dry gravel bed simply because the leaves look silvery. Use acidic soil or ericaceous compost and check container plants frequently in dry weather. The rootball should remain moist while surplus water can drain away. Pruning is rarely necessary beyond removing damaged shoots; allow the plant to form its natural low cushion.
