Amur Cherry

Overview & Description

The Amur Cherry (Prunus maackii) is a petite ornamental tree delivering year-round interest, with its most striking feature being exfoliating bark that peels in horizontal strips revealing a stunning metallic sheen of coppery reds and golden browns that glow in winter sunlight. In spring, delicate clusters of fragrant white flowers blanket branches, followed by small black fruits that songbirds relish. Medium green summer foliage transforms to warm yellow tones in autumn.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a rounded crown that naturally forms an attractive shape, often grown as a multi-stem specimen to showcase exceptional bark. It reaches a compact size of about 15 to 20 feet in both height and spread.
