Paul’s Golden Pear

Overview & Description

Pauls Golden Pear (Pyrus ussuriensis x Paul) is a hardy pear prized for its columnar, upright growth habit and larger-sized, juicy yellow fruit, which is notable for a cold-hardy pear. The flavorful fruit is great for eating fresh and used in preserves, offering versatility in the kitchen. Its attractive, space-saving form makes it an excellent choice for smaller landscapes and urban gardens.

Growth & Size

This variety exhibits a columnar, upright, narrow growth habit. It is a moderate-growing tree, typically reaching a mature size of about 23 feet in height with a spread of 16 feet.

Additional Notes

It blooms in spring with white flowers. Hardy to Zone 3, it requires cross-pollination with another pear variety for consistent yields. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. An outstanding choice for home orchards, edible landscapes, narrow spaces, and urban lots where columnar form, larger-sized juicy yellow fruit for fresh eating and preserves, and cold hardiness are desired.
